I love it when designers sport their own creations especially when its a yummy dress like this one. On Day 5 of Lakme Fashion Week designer Anupama Dayal chose to wear a dress from her own collection that was presented on the opening day of the fashion fest.

This pains, it really does. The atrocious outfit coupled with a mane that requires a visit to a hair salon pronto gets Anupama Verma a top ranking position in the fugly files. Wonder which designer's creation she's wearing!

From drab to fab

Suzanne Roshan Khan did a 180 by going from an all white drab on day 3 of Lakme Fashion Week to fab in a beautiful print teamed with Prada on day 4. Hubby Hritik in all blue is giving me the blues and doesn't impress!

Akshay Kumar: Tarun Tahiliani for Levi's

As a brand ambassador for Levi's it was no surprise to see Akshay Kumar sauntering on to the runway at the Tarun Tahiliani for Levi's show. Don't know if the unbuttoning of the jeans was necessary but how very cute of Akki to walk up to wifey Twinkle Khanna to do the honours!

At the Mai Mumbai charity event runway show, delish couple Mehr Jessia and Arjun Rampal walked in Rohit Bal ensembles.  Neha Dhupia wore a longer version of the jacket that Mehr's got on at the Gitanjali Style Fest.

Queenie wore a Zac Posen dress from the Spring 09 RTW collection which you may recall seeing on Freida Pinto at the Directors Guild of America Awards

Malaika Arora Khan in Versace

Malaika was resplendent in a Versace floor length gown from the designer's Resort 09 collection. She finished of her look with silver Christian Louboutin peep-toes.

Deepika Padukone in Carolina Herrera

Deepika channeled old school glamour in a gold Carolina Herrera gown. I couldn't find a photo of this gown in any of the runway shows but if someone does please let me know and I'll update the post

Naomi Campbell for Mai Mumbai

As many of you would already know supermodel Naomi Campbell and Indian hotelier Vikram Chatwal  have joined forces for a charity event to celebrate the opening of Lakme Fashion Week and raise funds for  Citizens of Justice and Peace and ongoing relief programs in wake of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. 

For Lakme Fashion Week I don't think its going to get any bigger than this. Here's a dekho at Naomi Campbell on the runway on day 2 of LFW. I don't need to go on about how fantastically she would've worked the runway; my only teeny weeny gripe is that I wish that had taken her measurments for the sari underskirt so that it was the right length. The sari is by Sabyasachi and like all the pieces showcased for this event was available for purchase via silent auction.

Sabyasachi F/W09 at Lakme Fashion Week

Day 1 of LFW ended on a high note with fashion maestro Sabyasachi's collection. The collection had all the signature hallmarks of his typical style which is timeless and loved by all mixed in with new silhouttes and heavy use of net in see through lehenga skirts with printed tights underneath. The net reminded me so much of John Galliano's Spring 09 RTW collection of which Freida wore the blue number to the Oscars. Nevertheless I loved it!

Spotted Queenie Dhody with a Jimmy Choo Rio purse when attending Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai. This purse is from an older collection so your only chance of scoring one is probably eBay. There is a patent white version being sold there now which you can check out here

Double dose of Sabyasachi

Celebs came out in flocks on Day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai as they always do. We spotted both Vidya Balan and Sonam Kapoor attending the Sabyasachi show dressed in Sabyasachi of course! 

After wearing a string of Sabyasachi suits when promoting Delhi-6 it was no surprise to see her don Sabyasachi again. Sonam wore a floor length black gown I am assuming as I can't really tell whether its one of those churidaars where the churidaar doesn't really show. This can be a tricky garment to pull off but Sonam's height definitely helps and she works it! I'm not a big fan of the zip at the front but Sabya is featuring zips a lot in his current garments. One my recent purchases from the Sabya stables also features one but because the rest of my tunic was so lovely I decided to overlook it. 

Vidya Balan goes to the other end of the colour spectrum with white. We know she's white obsessed as we've had a fair few sighthings of her white suit collection. This time instead of a suit she opts for a Sabyasachi saree in her favourite colour. If you notice the ambi detail on the blouse sleeves its actually the same as what we saw on one of Sonam's suits' recently. 

If I had to take my pick between the two I would go with Sonam as its fashion week and Vidya should've gone with something a bit more interesting or edgy (I know she doesn't do edgy but no harm in prophesing!) as its Fashion Week after all.

Genelia D'Souza & Tusshar Kapoor for Manish Malhotra

An unsual pairing and a surprising choice of show stoppers for Manish Malhotra's FW09 collection at Lakme Fashion Week but as much as I'm amazed I think Genelia D'Souza and Tusshar Kapoor actually look quite good together. The outfits are wearable and both carry them off well. Stay tuned to see who from the Bollywood brigade is going to walk down the runway next.

Minissha Lamba for Archana Kochhar

After Katrina Kaif, Minissha Lamba also walked on day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week for Archana Kochhar. Like most girls I love roses but this particular gown being a case of overload, is certainly going to be restricted to runways and the ocassional editorial.

Katrina Kaif as Barbie

Day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week Fall-Winter 09 in Mumbai kicked off with a commemoration to 50 years of Barbie. And who better from the B-town brigade than Katrina Kaif to doll up in fluro pink to impersonate one of the most popular icons.  Katrina's outfit was designed was Nishka Lulla and featured an ethnic style bodice with a ruffle layered skirt. The look was finished off with patent pumps and leather gloves both in pink ofcourse.
