A note: Attacks on Indians in Melbourne

Hi just a note to let you know what's keeping me away from the blog and the sporadic posts. Was on a family holiday last week and this week I just didn't feel like writing with all the digusting attacks on Indians in Melbourne (which is where I live). I'm off to a protest shortly to show my support for the Indian community. If you are based in Melbourne do try and come out

Kareena Kapoor in Christian Dior

For the May issue of 'Ok' magazine Kareena Kapoor wears ensembles from the Christian Dior Spring 09 collection. She wears a yellow mini on the cover, a similar strapless version from the collection has been seen on Freida Pinto and Mischa Barton. My favourite from the shoot is the floor length gown with the criss-cross halter neck which Demi Moore wore to the Golden Globes.

From Priyanka Chopra to Liz Hurley

The Salvatore Ferragamo gown that Priyank Chopra wore in the March 09 issue of L'Officiel India and then later at the 'Next Gen Asia' launch with the matching bean clutch from the designer (check it out here) now makes it way on Elizabeth Hurley at 'The Caudwell Children Butterfly Ball' at Battersea Evolution. Liz paired the gown with a silver envelope clutch.

Dressed up or down

Seems there is no end to Indian stars at the Cannes Film Festival this year. Hrithik Roshan accompanied by his father Rakesh Roshan and Kites co-star Barbare Mori posted appearances at the 'Kites' photocall dressed down and then went formal for the 'Bright Star' premiere. Which avtaar do you prefer Hrithik more in?

Lack lusture Parvathy

It's hard to believe this is the same woman who was Miss World runners-up. Both of Parvathy Omanakuttan's red carpet appearances at the 09 Cannes Film Festival were apalling. The white and black sequinned cut out gown looks just looks plain tacky and the gold ill-fitted number with the hi-cut slit seems just out of Mallika Sherawat's wardrobe.

Here's hoping to some better sightings if she sticks around at Cannes.

Talk about double dose of fabulosity in a day! First it was Aishwarya Rai in Elie Saab and now Shilpa Shetty wows me as the cover girl for the June issue of Grazia in a body con Balmain-sque number by the the immensely talented designer duo Alpana and Neeraj who run the label Azara.

Update - Thanks 'A' for the correction. Aishwarya's clutch is indeed a Jimmy Choo tube glitter and not a Judith Leiber as previously stated by me. Post has been updated with a pic of the clutch and link to where you can get your hands on one.

Fabo is how I would describe Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on day 2 at the Cannes Film Festival at the premiere of 'Spring Fever'. Dressed in a pale blue Elie Saab couture gown (thanks Fashion Critic for the ID) she looked flawless with the pulled back hair, perfect makeup, a Jimmy Choo clutch and a gown that suited her so well. Abhishek also made up with a better appearance on day 2.

The latest from the Indian contingent to join the Cannes jury is the gorgeous Sharmila Tagore. For the opening ceremony and the premiere of 'Up' Sharmila wore a pistachio green saree - the colour of which looked so great on her.

Aishwarya Rai: 09 Cannes Film Festival

The 09 Cannes Film Festival kicked off with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan gracing the red carpet in an ice-white tiered gown with a gorgeous train. With upswept hair, she kept the accessories to the minimum with pearl drop earrings, a slim bangle and a swarovski boxed clutch. Whilst the tiering on the dress reminded me of the Gauri Nainika number that Aish wore to a Longines event, the gown is by Roberto Cavalli. Hubby Abhishek Bachchan also accompanied her to Cannes went colour coordinated with wife in a white shirt and jacket but I don't quite think its working! Nevertheless Aishwarya looks every bit the glamazon that she is.

Update - Thanks 'Sunehri'! You have confirmed what I was thinking, it is a harem style jumpsuit that Sonam is wearing!

Whilst its not a dress I would wear, think Sonam Kapoor carries it off. More than the ensemble I love her fresh faced make-up and the hair. There have been times like this when her hair and make-up have aged her beyond her years but at the L'Oreal brunch she gets it right. She takes a risk and is probably the only one in Bollywood who doesn't conform to the stock standard which I love.

This particular leopard-sque number takes me back to Manish Arora's latest collection at Lakme Fashion Week the theme of which was all things jungle.
