Keeping it classic

In addition to the Gauri-Nainika gown Aishwarya Rai also wore a simple fitted churidaar suit which looked fantastic on her. The make-up was great too so absolutely nothing to complain about this chic look.

In Gauri-Nainika

It's no new news that Gauri-Nainika are designers on Aishwarya's list of favorites. She chooses a voluminous strapless gown designed by them at another Longines collection launch. You can catch her wearing more Gauri-Nainika at a Longines event last year here.

On an aside apologies for the lack of posts in the last couple of weeks. I was super busy wrapping up work, packing etc for my trip to India for my sister's wedding. Am here now and will keep posting off and on, on all things fashion as usual and will also give you a sneak peek into my sister's wedding functions over the next few weeks so stay tuned. I did a big shop in Delhi on Monday where I stocked up on some fab suits from Ogaan in Hauz Khas Village. I was so so impressed with their selection that this store has immediately made its way in my top 10 favourite places to shop. If you live in Delhi or ever make a trip there it is an absolute must visit.

Calling all stylists

What's with gorgeous women having no sense of fashion what so ever! Can someone explain to me why would Aishwarya Rai Bachchan dress as if she ready to gallop away on a horse when all that she's required to do is launch a product! She could've ditched the boots and just teamed her blazer with a more flattering pair of pants with the right shoes to have turned this debacle into an okay ensemble.

Lack lusture

Both Mughda Godse and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan failed to impress me in "frocks" they put on at their latest public appearances. Aishwarya's reminded me so much of the number that she wore at the IIFAs (funnily enough I had titled that post Lack lusture as well). I don't like the cut, fabric or the colour on her one bit. With Mughda she's chosen a style that just makes her look bulky and why would a woman with a fab body want to do that to herself. Again the colour isn't doing her any favours either.

How much I love Aishwarya for wearing this gorgeous Sabyasachi saree on the Oprah Winfrey show due to air soon. I love the simple bindi, the elbow length sleeves (yes I have a thing for them!) and the gorgeous saree.

Elegance personified

As part of her Longines Ambassador of Elegance duties, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made an appearance at the Royal Ascot races in a understated dress paired with a matching jacket by Armani and the requisite statement hat by designer IIda Di-Vico.

For the evening gala dinner Aishwarya wore a velvet sleeveless gown with an embellished panel which wasn't a great look.

Lack lusture

After wowing us in Cannes, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan disappoints on Day 1 of the IIFA'09 weekend in Macau in a dated prom like age inappropriate (I can go on and on...) frock in a colour which isn't flattering her skin tone one bit. Hubby Abhishek surprisingly gets it right this time by keeping it simple by sticking to a well fitted classic suit.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan features on the June cover of Verve in a stunning bow detailed red gown by Shahab Durazi. Whatever I can see of the gown, I totally heart. The magazine also features an inside spread of the former Miss World donning more Shahab Durazi gowns. As the pics surface of the inside spread I'll post them.

In Elie Saab

Update - Thanks 'A' for the correction. Aishwarya's clutch is indeed a Jimmy Choo tube glitter and not a Judith Leiber as previously stated by me. Post has been updated with a pic of the clutch and link to where you can get your hands on one.

Fabo is how I would describe Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on day 2 at the Cannes Film Festival at the premiere of 'Spring Fever'. Dressed in a pale blue Elie Saab couture gown (thanks Fashion Critic for the ID) she looked flawless with the pulled back hair, perfect makeup, a Jimmy Choo clutch and a gown that suited her so well. Abhishek also made up with a better appearance on day 2.

Aishwarya Rai: 09 Cannes Film Festival

The 09 Cannes Film Festival kicked off with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan gracing the red carpet in an ice-white tiered gown with a gorgeous train. With upswept hair, she kept the accessories to the minimum with pearl drop earrings, a slim bangle and a swarovski boxed clutch. Whilst the tiering on the dress reminded me of the Gauri Nainika number that Aish wore to a Longines event, the gown is by Roberto Cavalli. Hubby Abhishek Bachchan also accompanied her to Cannes went colour coordinated with wife in a white shirt and jacket but I don't quite think its working! Nevertheless Aishwarya looks every bit the glamazon that she is.

Keeping it cool in white

Another family who went colour coordinated were the Bachchans who stepped out together to cast their votes. Loving Aishwarya's white blouse, teamed with the denims and her kolhapuri wedges. I'm still not quite sure where Abhishek's headed with the clean shaved look but do like his latest tee as much as this other one.

Going traditional for Padma Shri

Very aptly Aishwarya Rai Bachchan opted for a saree to receive her Padma Shri along with fellow actor Akshay Kumar from President Pratibha Patil at the Rashtrapati Bhavan last night. She rocks a saree, absolutely but I wonder if the magenta and gold combo was a bit too garrish for an event like this. Nevertheless congratuations on the award Aishwarya. Great to see the entire Bachchan family come out in support.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan opts for a pink gown for the Pink Panther 2 premiere at the Berlin Film Festival. The colour is divine on her but something about the fabric, especially in the pic that shows the back of the gown is not sitting right with me.

Overwhelming

I'm all for man style wide leg pants but the jacket is so overbearing and such a let down. Know its cold and all in Paris (where she's promoting Pink Panther 2) but surely for the shutterbugs Aishwarya Rai could've taken off the velvet monster so we could've checked out the rest of the ensemble hiding underneath!
