In her true signature style Vidya Balan kept it simple in a Bengali saree at the Sabyasachi show at Lakme Fashion Week. Vidya teamed her saree with the Louis Vuitton sunset boulevard.

How much I love Aishwarya for wearing this gorgeous Sabyasachi saree on the Oprah Winfrey show due to air soon. I love the simple bindi, the elbow length sleeves (yes I have a thing for them!) and the gorgeous saree.

The Return of the Rani

Rani Mukherjee has been the limelight a lot lately due to her upcoming film 'Dil Hadippa' and her look in the film. The promo junket continues with her featuring on the latest issue of 'Hi-Blitz'; obviously the focal point of the shoot being to show off her newly trimmed body. The shoot styled by maestro Sabyasachi carries a East meets West type theme with Victorian hair accessories complemented by Jadau jewellery by Krsala. Rani looks fabulous there is no doubt and yes there is photoshopping involved as is always the case but I'm just a bit disappointed in Sabyasachi in terms of his choice of blouses for Rani as I love his really really traditional pieces especially his elbow length saree blouses. But then again I think it was a part of the brief and deliberate move to go for the miniscule blouses for very obvious reasons!

The necklaces are to die for and are going on the wishlist for my sister's wedding :)

Naomi Campbell for Mai Mumbai

As many of you would already know supermodel Naomi Campbell and Indian hotelier Vikram Chatwal  have joined forces for a charity event to celebrate the opening of Lakme Fashion Week and raise funds for  Citizens of Justice and Peace and ongoing relief programs in wake of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. 

For Lakme Fashion Week I don't think its going to get any bigger than this. Here's a dekho at Naomi Campbell on the runway on day 2 of LFW. I don't need to go on about how fantastically she would've worked the runway; my only teeny weeny gripe is that I wish that had taken her measurments for the sari underskirt so that it was the right length. The sari is by Sabyasachi and like all the pieces showcased for this event was available for purchase via silent auction.

Double dose of Sabyasachi

Celebs came out in flocks on Day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai as they always do. We spotted both Vidya Balan and Sonam Kapoor attending the Sabyasachi show dressed in Sabyasachi of course! 

After wearing a string of Sabyasachi suits when promoting Delhi-6 it was no surprise to see her don Sabyasachi again. Sonam wore a floor length black gown I am assuming as I can't really tell whether its one of those churidaars where the churidaar doesn't really show. This can be a tricky garment to pull off but Sonam's height definitely helps and she works it! I'm not a big fan of the zip at the front but Sabya is featuring zips a lot in his current garments. One my recent purchases from the Sabya stables also features one but because the rest of my tunic was so lovely I decided to overlook it. 

Vidya Balan goes to the other end of the colour spectrum with white. We know she's white obsessed as we've had a fair few sighthings of her white suit collection. This time instead of a suit she opts for a Sabyasachi saree in her favourite colour. If you notice the ambi detail on the blouse sleeves its actually the same as what we saw on one of Sonam's suits' recently. 

If I had to take my pick between the two I would go with Sonam as its fashion week and Vidya should've gone with something a bit more interesting or edgy (I know she doesn't do edgy but no harm in prophesing!) as its Fashion Week after all.

Sonam Kapoor completes a Sabyasachi hattrick with this velvet number she wore to the Delhi 6 premiere in New York. You can check out the other two Sabya creations here and here.

Feeling peachy

Sonam Kapoor does ethnic again with panache in what seems to be another Sabyasachi creation. I'm going to be predictable by saying I love this ensemble too especially the antique peetal style clutch and the teaming of gold detailing on the top with silvery grey churidaars.

Efortless chic

Ethnic or western wear Sonam Kapoor makes it all look so effortless and carries it all with elan. I'm obsessed with her style and always look forward to what she's going to wear next.

On an aside, I own a churidaar version that's similar to the Sabyasachi suit she's wearing at the Inorbit Mall Delhi-6 promotion which has the same sheer full length sleeves and the gold ambi detail.

Rani Mukherjee's rare public appearance - hit or miss ?

Rani made a rare public appearance at Bhavna Somaiya's book launch unfortunately not dressed to impress. What I absolutely love about Rani is her love and endorsement of our desi designers in times when everyone else in the industry is dressed head to toe by international design houses.

Having said that though I am a bit disappointed with this rather drab suit. Rani loves wearing Sabyasachi and who doesn't love a Sabyasachi creation. Very much doubt it that this is one from his repertoire !
