Sushmita Sen for Sanjana Jon

Sushmita Sen along with her brother Rajiv Sen walked the ramp for Sanjana Jon at India Fashion Week. Sanjana for those who may not know (like me until I googled her) is the sister of Indian born fashion designer Anand Jon who was recently convicted in the US. Whilst Sush and Salman who was the other celebrity to walk for her did generate a lot of interest in the show, her collection has received a lot of flak about which you can read here.

Back to Sushmita, the woman's got a fantastic body which she flaunts in a stock standard black strapless dress.

Vikram Phadnis: Lakme Fashion Week

I love love love everything about Vikram Phadnis's timeless, regal and oh so very Indian collection presented on Day 4 of the Lakme Fashion Week. None other than the diva herself Sushmita Sen acted as the perfect showstopper resplendant in a gold and green bridal lehenga. Drool on ladies just like me. P.S The churidaar number in row 4 is so meeee and is on my wishlist for my sister's wedding!

The long and the short of it

At the IIFAs we saw Sushmita Sen step out in a black Roberto Cavalli cut-out gown. Blake Lively was seen sporting a shorter version of the same in white at the 'Swarovski Crystallized' concept store opening. Think the shorter version is very age appropriate for Blake and she looks absolutely fantastic! But then again its a rarity to see this gal err when it comes to fashion.

Sushmita Sen ditched the kaftans and went for a long sleeved cut-out Roberto Cavalli gown for the IIFA Awards night. Sushmita wore a slightly altered version of the runway version with a net overlay on the cut-outs. Like the model I think the gown would've worked better if Sushmita would've injected a bit of colour by choosing her footwear in a different colour. Think the net wasn't required either.

From fab to scary

Sushmita Sen's clearly got a theme going and has packed a suitcase full of kaftans and kimonos for the IIFA weekend. Whilst the leopard print version that she wore on day 1 of the festivities did total justice to her diva like stature but she's taken quite a tumble since then on Day 2. Honeslty what the hell was she thinking with this red and black monster! Hubby felt obliged to walk over and look at the computer screen when he saw the shock on my face and in a jiffy pointed out that Sush's inspiration was "Orco" who now thanks to Sush has debuted on my blog!

Mixing it up

I love Deepika's look at the Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2009 beauty pageant where she teamed her black strapless gown with ornate kundan jewellery. Fellow judge Sushmita Sen was also seen in a similar look where she teamed her gown with a ruby and diamond necklace which makes me think that perhaps the event sponsors' 'Nakshatra diamonds' had something to do with it!

Same same for Gauri and print share with Sush

After Preity Zinta and Mehr Jessia, Gauri Khan indulges in a bit of wardrobe recycling by wearing the maxi to Karim Torani's 50th birthday celebrations that she's previously worn to Farah Khan's lingerie show in November last year.

Coincidentally Sushmita Sen who was invited on day 2 of the celebrations (day 1 was reserved for Shahrukh's friends only!) also wore the same print in a shorter avatar.

I don't like it either way as a print like this is worthy of a bit of vibrancy rathern than the dull color combo featured in these dresses.

Update - Turns out Sushmita's outfit is a Nicole Miller Techno Metal Combo gown. Thanks 'anonymous' for the tip off and pinkvilla for identifying the dress!

Even the Fendi purse couldn't save this outfit made of aluminium foil! And yes, this is the same woman who was voted as most stylish in 08 by Cosmo. Oh dear!

Sush most stylish says Cosmo

Cosmopolitan India have done a feature in their Jan 09 edition ranking Bollywood's top 20 stylish women. Bit surprised to see Sushmita Sen topping the charts! Whilst I'm a big Sush fan and back in the days of the Sush / Aish debate around who was more worthy of the Miss India and subsequently the Miss Universe title; I believed and still do that Sush was the perfect choice. On the flip side though I don't think currently she's the reigning style queen and the photo definitely isn't one of her latest or perhaps another photoshop wonder! Following Sush on the countdown were Malaika Arora Khan, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and Sonam Kapoor respectively in that order. Do you think Sushmita Sen is worthy of the title? If not, who's your pick?
